Menopause: the business case you can’t ignore
READ TIME - 4 minute read

For several years now we have been delivering Menopause training for organisations in various sectors and organisations. I am always happy to share my story of early menopause due to radioactive medical treatment - and the huge impact it had on my mental health.
I share my story as I would hate anyone else to feel like I did - but sadly so many people do as there is a lack of awareness and a shockingly low level of support from employers.
1 in 10 women leave their job because of menopause. Let’s change that.
Menopausal women are the fastest-growing demographic in the UK workforce – yet too many feel invisible, unsupported, or unable to speak up.
Here’s the reality:
Women make up 70% of the average local authority workforce, with an average age of 40
1 in 4 consider leaving work due to menopausal symptoms
1 in 10 actually do leave (Fawcett Society)
46% don’t tell their employer what they’re going through
And a staggering 83% feel they have no support from their workplace (Unite the Union)
Let’s be clear: this isn’t just a wellbeing issue. It’s a retention issue. A performance issue. And a leadership test.
On 25th September, our free Lunch & Learn will focus on exactly this – how to support employees through menopause in a way that’s practical, respectful, and legally sound.
We’ll cover:
✅ What menopause support actually looks like in practice
✅ The legal risks of getting it wrong (disability claims, anyone?)
✅ Easy steps that make a real difference – even in small teams
✅ How to open up conversations without embarrassment or overstepping
📅 Book your free place here and make sure use the promo code IAAP.
Because when 1 in 10 women are leaving, silence isn’t neutral – it’s costly.
Best wishes,
Emma
P.S. As you would expect, we have lots of resources to help employers support people with menopause. Why not try the HR Hub free for a month here and make use of the resources in your organisation
